Come with me to the candy tree, you need to free your mind

G and I had a date today.
After work, we went for lunch-Thai-and then we went to see the new James Bond film....
It was all rather splendid.
The sun was out, the ducks were quaking....
I even squeezed in a spot of op and vintage shopping!
Ah, doesn't it make you feel happy?!

It seemed appropriate to air my new frock; I finished it on Monday night and am very pleased with it.

Frock-made by moi using fabric from BellaBean Vintage
Cardi-Thailand
Jacket-70's, opshopped
Tights-retail
Shoes-thrifted in Santa Fe
Headpiece-from the sweetest Squirrel
Sunglasses-opshopped
Jewellery-gift from G last birthday
Handbag-60's vanity case

We stopped in at Etc, a vintage shop on the corner of Barbadoes St and Edgeware Rd on the way to the cinema, and I found myself a white crinoline!
Been looking for ages....
Despite being somewhat inebrieated at this point, I managed to restrain myself from pawing through their other goodies, as Daniel Craig was waiting...

Do you know, I have been complimented on my fabularseness 5 times by random strangers in the last two days?!
Really!
And I got chatted up.
That rarely happens.
I didn't even have my booboids on display.
I find it quite gratifying, actually!
Especially at my age, young man!

You are SO clever! That dress looks amazing. I'm envious of your sewing skills - unfortunately just threading a bobbin makes me irrationally and unresolvably angry - maybe in another life eh!

Fabulousness! Love the colours. Sounds like a grand day. Very summery right now n'est pas? What a thrill..

Clever you - I can't remember the last time I sewed meself a real proper dress (ie not a piece of fabric sewn into a tube and hemmed, and elasticated in the waist.. skirt-ish like!)

Have a happy weekend. xxx

Wow your sewing skills are amazing that dress is fabulous i love the neckline on it. It was my son's 16th birthday on Weds so we took him to see Skyfall to im afraid there was a bit to much killing for my liking not like the old Jame bond films when it was left to your imagaine so to speak i had my head tucked behind Mr J's shoulder for a lot of it God im such a light weight :-). dee xxx

What a gorgeous frock, I love the bodice & hem detailing & the colours are so pleasing! I am not surprised that you've been flooded with compliments. You have such a fabulous & unique sense of style. When we parted ways at Madam Butterflies that day, a guy who was on the other side of the road asked if you were single or not. So you're even attracting men you don't know about! Love to you & G from us. Xx

Oh Kathy Burke is such a star, isn't she?
I am not in the least surprised you got chatted up and complimented, you look completely magnificent in your new frock! Yellow and blue stripes with some red for extra naughtiness, perfect for a glorious sunny day and a date with the G-man! I can only imagine what might carnal cavorting might occur if your booboids were on display as well!
Gorgeous photos of you among the greenery, and that new petticoat is a beauty.
Now off with you to see Santa in his grotto for some festive friskiness! Young MAN! xxxxxxx

Oh Helga, you look fabulous! I love the red tights with the blue/turqoise shoes. I wore red tights the other day, with a purple dress - very loud! My other half wasn't keen...but I felt happy looking down on my legs! Do you always get to leave at lunch time on Fridays? Lucky you! Although I get to leave two hours early today, as I did some very unusual over time a few weeks back. Yay! Happy weekend!! ~ Sara

You do colour better than almost anyone I've ever seen - such a wondrously vivid combination! I am dying to be done with my neutrals, although they are fun for a month.

Lovely crin! I'm not surprised you were chatted up - I bet you are always the most interesting person around.

Stripes must be hot right now, I see Curtise is wearing them too!

Your dress is fabulous, I am so impressed with your sewing skills. Love the cardi and the bag too.

I was going to say I must be the only person in the UK who hasn't seen the new Bond yet, but I see Vix hasn't either, so there's hope for me after all!

Have a fab weekend! xxx

What a perfect day indeed. You are stunning, head to toe. And I'm so jealous of your sewing skills. I must find out more as altering patterns to fit my ample bosom is always my stumbling block.
Pray tell, what was the cause of your button photo (mentioned on my Pearlies post)>

I've missed loads of your posts so I'm having a Helga-thon now and very enjoyable it is too. I'm not surprised you get compliments and chatted up Helga, I would have imagined it happening to you regularly. Love the clip, it reminds me of an old neighbour of ours who was in her 70s. The first time I met her and had Pat with me, she said "Oh I've met your man before, he's some kisser." which has always tickled me ever since. xx
