Strawberries, cherries, and an angels kiss in Spring

Sunshine!

About 4 or 5 consecutive days of it now!

I could just pee myself with excitement; it's  that taste of the Summer to come that I have been longing for....

We sat in the backyard for just a half hour or so after work and had a whiskey and ginger ale, just enjoying the  sun and the pookies galloping around like crazy kittehs.

Makes me feel calm.

Dance 10 Looks 3

I finally finished shortening the sleeves on this rocking horse print square dance frock I picked up in Alamagorgdo, New Mexico.....they were ghastly, and I simply had to hack them off with a pair of nail scissors somewhere along the road....

With what I cut off, I made some wee pockets, if you can see them.

It's a modern frock, someones homemade job, and it makes me feel happy with it's childish print.

I've also been altering this frock that my beloved Vix sent me.

It was  an ankle length sack.

I did take a before pic, but due to a computer virus over the weekend, I seem to have lost my picture files, hopefully temporarily.

I shortened it, and used the excess to make this jabot with a wee bow.

I suspect I am about to succumb to a jabot frenzy....they're so Mrs Slocombe, and I think I need many.....and I like to think they'll detract from the old booboids a bit.

I may still need to shorten it a little bit more, but I can't wait to rock an all white look.

And how pleasant it was to finally sit down and have a little sew....I keep whining about getting inspired, but I think the truth is that I am simply too lazy half the time!

Tsk tsk.

It's just like my report cards from school; "could do better".......

The miracle of a bit of slap!

Yes, indeedy, with the help of a lot of medication and several (ok, more than several, I just don't know what the term is for 6 or 7)) whiskey macs (half and half whiskey and ginger wine) I was able to perform last night.

I wasn't great, but hell, I was there!

Outside of society, they're waitin' for me

No Friday Frock for me today; I haven't been able to summon the enthusiasm to frock up for the last couple days due to a disgusting chest cold and a bout of asthma.

UGH.

I haven't even gotten out of bed today, aside from the necessitities!

I am trying to summon some sort of miracle so I can sing decently enough tonight for our first proper gig since last year!

(I expect deciding what to wear will perk me up a bit)

I believe in truth, though I lie a lot

My makeup inspirations.......

"Dare" was the first vinyl I ever bought for myself with my very own (pocket) money, and I spent hours practising Joanne and Suzanne's makeup!

That was the beginning of my road to ruin...

I was always fascinated with how big ballet dancers eyes could appear, and as my eyes are on the small side, I was rather inspired...

60's eyes are pretty much my favourite...

Drag queens are so uber adventurous and outrageous...when I was in my late teens I was going to drag shows on Oxford St and in Kings Cross, Sydney, and this pretty much changed my life...and then  I started getting into Goth...

No prizes for guessing whom my main makeup inspiration was and still is!

Siouxsie's own inspiration was the silent film stars, such as Theda Bara.

And last but not least, Strawberry Switchblade, and not just for makeup!

Their style was so unique, very flamenco and they adored polka dots, and I freakin' loved it!

I still have a couple of my original posters from the 80's, somewhere, of Strawberry Switchblade and Siouxsie.

My look, amalgamated from all these sources; this is in 1989.

Ah, nostalgia!

I've done plenty of damage to the ozone layer, and been through countless black eyeliners in my time.....

I tend to do a softer, more 60's version when I feel like getting a bit frocked up these days.

Apart from a small grocery mission and band practice that night, it was blessedly mellow.

I love this 60's vanity case; I must have had it fo over 10 years!

I wish I had one in every colour....

I had forgotten about these 70's sandles!

They were one of a few pairs given to me many years ago.

They're a bit clunky, but fun.

We've filled up the left side of our 60's liquor cabinet with some Mexican finds, and other drinking accoutrements!

The mini sombreros on top will go onto the wall at some stage.
