Earthquake

Just a quick post to let you all know that we have come out of the 7.1 Christchurch earthquake unscathed.
Just some minimal damage around the house.
The city is pretty messy, we have just got power and water back now, which is amazing, and far earlier than expected.
Apparently the weather is going to turn really bad, but we'll be warm!
We have friends from Kaipoi, just North of Christchurch, here-their house is inhabitable, that part of town has been hit the worst,as far as we can tell.
There are bloody idiots driving around, rubber-necking.
For feck's sake!
xxxxxxx
Update!
Thank you, Mazzy darling, for your concern and lovely words.
I did actually do my hair and I am wearing my tiara-it's the least I can do to still look fabulous!
Been watching news, the city is a disaster! Some lovely old buildings fatally damaged. It'll change the face of the city, probably in a bad way.
All our family and friends are fine, thankfully.
Check out the internet for news and pictures if you are interested.
We haven't left the house, don't intend to.
The freaking aftershocks are quite strong, and scary as hell.
Dinner is on, we are safe and cosy with our friends Gary & Sally.
xxxxxxx

Hello Auntie!

I'm so relieved knowing you made it out unscathed and that everything with you is alright. So sorry to hear about your mates and their section of town. I was busy all day and the moment I turned on the telly I heard "Disaster in Christchurch NZ" and ran to your page. I am SO relieved.

Though don't think for a minute that I didn't think of Hyacinth Bucket talking about being on a sinking ship and reminded her son Sheridan that she would be wearing her "antique diamond cluster, so it shall shine brilliantly in their searchlights, but if lowering a ladder to please provide trousers." and I had a slight vision of you in a fabulous S.O.S frock braving natural disaster still looking fab

Then again, I'm the fag when emailing a girlfriend in the military when she's fighting in Iraq, I wanted to make sure that their regulation knicker selection were not only sturdy, but reasonable and cute....oh this zany world I live in!

...glad you and you honey and Boris are safe... hope your family in various parts of the country are safe as well...Please keep us all updated on the situation and I hope there aren't any horrible aftershocks.

xoxo

How disasterous! I am so glad you and yours are safe and sound. I've been in a few earthquakes so I know how terrifying it can be. I was out all day yesterday returned home late and tuckered out so didn't even watch TV. I have to go turn on the news but again so happy to know you are allright and that you are still fabulous!

Lovely Helga,
Mark (hubby) came running through earlier & told me to immediately check your blog as he'd read about the earthquake on the net.
We are both so relieved you guys are OK; it must have been so scary.
I’m so sad to hear about your friends in Kaipoi, I can't even begin to imagine how low they must be feeling right now.
Mark & I are thinking about you guys!
Take care & keep safe!
Lot’s of love,
Jem

Helga, I'm so glad that you are still ok. I guess that the city is going to take a long time to get back to anything near normality... but it's great to hear that your still looking glam throughout it all :-) Thoughts are with you. xx
