Bopping 'round Bunnings

f

We bought our house in 2000.

And we promptly became the kind of people we were always nervous of.

Obsessed with hardware, getting excited over house & garden type magazines, fossicking in wreckers yards, getting dressed up to go to places like Bunnings and Mitre 10....

It opened up a whole new world of shopping when we travelled; we've picked up some glorious things for the house in some far flung places.

It all makes me feel so terribly grown up!

Good thing I'm not.

Isn't my new bag a beauty!?

You saw it in the wedding pix; I bought it last Friday. It's a bit of a Tardis; which is always a bonus!

This afternoon we are off to The Staging Post for the weekend.

We were last there last June. Amber and her bestie, Bela, have been going there for their birthday weekends for a few years now. We didn't make it for Amber's birthday last year, but had such fun at Bela's we made sure we kept Amber's birthday weekend free. We'll be taking the Kombi. She's just had a new clutch, and G is quite enthusiastic about that. It's only about an hours drive, it's just south of Kaikoura.

At Bunnings I was wearing:

frock-70's, opshopped

Cardi-Farmers sale

Tights-Farmers

Shoes-Trade Me

Handbag-vintage, opshopped

***

Have super weekends, darlings!

See y'all on the other side!

X

What a fantastic get-up for a DiY store. Those places are so dire and goddamned manly they need an injection of Helga-tastic fabulousness.
Architectural ironmongery is like porn to me, Ican lust over lamp fittings and knobs with far more fervour than a fashion mag.
Have a wonderful weekend, my dearest. That bag is a beaut.
Love you,
Vix

Dearest Helga, yes! Love the DIY store outfit.

I am with you and Vix and also lust after house stuff. I bought mine in 1997.

I won't grow up either though! Love the new bag, a tardis is a definite bonus xx

I desperately want to do the DIY thing... His Lordship and I are house hunting- actively looking but trying to find that balance between location, being live-able (a roof, door etc') and actually being able to afford it (!!) means a lot of scratchy heading.

LOVE the DIY outfit, and your oh so regal pose. You bring class to that depot!

Yes, it is a beauty...another one of your bags that makes me dribble in an unladylike fashion.
I love a bit of DIY and the Old Man and I can often be found in such stores pondering knobs and knockers and ironmongery in general.
I agree with Vix...those stores need glamming up. Too much fleece in one place for my liking.

You were definitely the brightest thing in that store!

That handbag is so cute! I love framed handbags, they always have much more space inside than meets the eyeballs.

I love your purple pentagram door!

I am currently in the process of bookmarking styles of d├ęcor, fittings and things, things and more things because Pyf and I are going to be making a start on doing a complete makeover on our living room. We bought our house about a year ago and have only completed our bedroom so far! I find it very exciting and when we get down into the thick of it, it's all I can think about and I'm only 23!

I hope you have a great weekend at The Staging Post xxx

Love the new bag, and the gorgeous scalloped neckline on your dress. I know it is sad but I always used to love going to Bunnings! So much fun looking at all the different paint colours and browsing wood and nails, and they usually did a sausage sizzle outside our local one on the weekends, mmmm xx

Ha ha, the Aussie and I are currently DIY obsessed. Though I think if people turned up at our B&Q looking as glorious as you, the poor old boys in their orange pinnys would have heart attacks :)

I love your new bag too.
I think that if I could afford to get on the property ladder & purchase a house I'd probably be much more into house related DIY stuff too.

I love hardware & DIY stores cos it means that something fabulous might happen to my home! However I sadly rarely look like you do when I visit, as I'm usually in the middle of a job & then realise I need something I don't have so I'm usually covered in paint - and when I'm covered in paint I mean covered, face, arms, hands, feet - and looking rather scruffy :o(
