Bouquet Glow

Firstly, thank you all for your unending support through this quakey bollocks!

Secondly, here's some cheery pix from Sunday afternoon, which was sunny and pleasant with no sense of foreboding....

Feast your eyes on my other new hat!

Isn't it glorious!?

I'm quite in love with it!

It looked quite fetching with my gorgeous frock, it's another treasure from my beloved Vix !

The cardi is from Selcuk, Turkey, the coral tights were also from Vix, I think, and the shoes from Trade Me.

See my tabby boy under the chair!

The blingy 70's necklace rocks my world!

We went into work this afternoon, after managing to get into my sewing/dressing room.

Drawers and a small shelf had fallen arse over and blocked the door.

What a frigging mess!

Again!

We've had more breakages, the most disappointing being a sheesha pipe-not the usual tourist tat-that we brought home from Egypt in 1992. Totally fecked. That glass lamp from Turkey I showed off the other day that got a bit smashed from the February quake? Totally fecked now.

It's just stuff.

But it's saddening.

More buildings gone, houses coming off cliffs, shit for miles!

Le sigh.

But we carry on-what else do you do?!

Looking in the door of my room.

Much jewellery and bags and stuff under those drawers.

G is going to secure them asap.

Both my sewing machine and overlocker came off the sewing table; there are some bits broken off my machine, the overlocker seems ok.

Pins all over the place!

The pantry emptied out again!

No broken sauce or oil bottles this time, though.

Our mate Dave K came round last night, so instead of going to bed, I got thoroughly plastered with him and G and listened to music.

I'm suffering mightily today.

But it was cathartic.

This coming weekend, G and I are going to Kaikoura for our friend Dave M's 40th!

That will be a welcome distraction.

We've got a cabin booked in the local campground, and I'll be visiting Lemon Dolly, the funkiest vintage shop in town!
Small pleasures!
X

Ah you look so fabulous.

I saw the news about aftershocks before I went to bed last night, they sounded more like earthquakes than aftershocks.

I'm glad you are ok even if you have stuff to sort out AGAIN! What a nightmare, stay safe

What a bloody mess that darned earthquake has made, you are so cool about it, such an inspiration. Us Brits would be in a state of chaos.
That frock is beautiful on you with that amazing headpiece and crochet cardi, you look absolutely ravishing (and so does Harvey).
Love you!

the after-quake pics are shocking! it must have been terrifying for you. i am so glad i never experienced anything like it. i always left all the places before the natural disasters happened ;)
by the way, i adore the pic with the cat and you. looks like the little furball is part of an accurately choreographed photo.
if you wanna have a look at my blog, you can see mummy-to-be doris with her tummy. the baby already moves inside her and sometimes punches out limbs - never when i am with her though.

You have a great attitude towards them tho, I think I would be a nervous wreck. Have you ever thought of moving away?Your house is so beauitful, shame you cant pick it up and move it somewhere, if only?

Glad you've got some respite to look forward to.. what a shit it all is.

It is just stuff, but don't we love our stuff?! Our treasure makes us happy, along with friends and family of course! But the trinkets are part of our personality, aren't they.. so I totally get how gutting that would be, to see your stuff all trashed..

Bollocks to the whole thing.

YOu seem to be coping really well.. Best of luck with it all.

Gosh, what a mess! I admire you guys just getting on with life. Hope the sewing machine is still working. Wish I lived near enough to send you a spare machine.

That is a fantastic outfit, especially the hat. I've always been a bit wary of orange tones with red hair, but it looks amazing on you x

jkubenka said...

You look stunning and brilliant in that orange! If I lived near you, if I weren't cleaning up my own quake mess, I'd bring over a bottle of something and help you clean up your quake damage!

Terrible you guys are suffering again with the quakes. Keep safe. xxx

p.s that hat is mad, but in a good way. And only you could wear it so well.

Hope the tidying up is underway, sorry you lost some pretty treasures along the way, but you, G and the pusskins are OK, so that's the most important thing.

LOVE the tangerine dream of an outfit, especially that beautiful sunburst of a hat!

Oh my Dearest Helga! How Frustrating it must be to continually be 'righting' things and cleaning up. Yes, it's a Blessing to have stuff to 'right', as well as a roof, water, etc. (as I know you are well aware) but *sheesh!* it's enough to make anyone DONE with the rumbling (this is why I living in Michigan, not Cali).

That said, you're hat is GLORIOUS!! I totally Love it, plus it Orange. And those shoes... Mmm-Mmmm, Good! Have a fun and Peaceful vacay and Pace Yourself, Darling! ;^)

I'm just so glad you're safe darling woman - what a frightful bloody mess and I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of some wonderful memorabilia from your travels. I must say that I'm completely smitten with your hat and outfit - I cannot believe how god damn gorgeous you are - loving the fringe too! You upcoming weekend on the Kaikoura Coast sounds delish and just what you and G need. xoxoxoxoxo

Oh honey, more fecking aftershocks?! I apologise for being quite massively out of the loop - it was Beth's funeral yesterday and my mind hasn't been in the real world for a little while.

All your poor stuff :( It looks a right mess - I don't envy you having to tackle the clear up.

Nearly forgot to mention the outfit!! That hat is quite amazingly jaunty. One of my weekend frock purchases is a bit similar to the one you're sporting here but I don't think it's warm enough to wear it yet. Gargh.

Misfits Vintage said...

Amor - you look frickin AMAZINGSAUCE - the fabric on your frock rocks my universe! And the new hat is magical. I just adore your entire ensemble.

And as for the mess - well, if I were there I'd help you clean up, then I'd pop you in my suitcase and bring you home to live with me. We have fire, drought and flood but no earthquake or volcano! I am so sorry - and I hope these rotten aftershocks end NOW.

Dear and beautiful Helga,
I know, I do not visit you often but when I saw the news the first think that came into my mind was you and your family.

The only thing that I did was to pray for you all.

Thank God you are all fine, hopefully the kitties are back by now.

Love,

Mely

I love you in orange! Seriously, you look so lovely. I get so scared about the quakes with all of you there. I admire your strength and how you pick up and move on...but you really do mean a lot to me...your a very special blog buddy and I just pray for your safety..and G's...and everyone of your friends, fam, and neighbors. I love you all...stay safe...that is indeed the most important thing, but I like my stuff too...so I understand how you must feel. Love you, Janna Lynn

Well with a gorgeous headpiece like that I am suprised you did not have people following you trying to catch a sniff of those lovely orange flowers ;)

Awww I am very sorry to see what that stupid quake did to your sweet little home. I hope it's over now, and never comes back!
