Apparently, the best thing about schoolgirls is.....

...that the older you get, they still stay the same age!

According to G, anyhow!

Sarah posted a pic of her first day going to school last week, so I thought I would treat you to mine!

Such a serious expression!

My Mama said I was very excited and had been looking forward to it for ages, but when we got there, I hung onto her legs for dear life and had to be prised off!

I do remember that I was given a ballerina jigsaw puzzle to do, and that there was a piece missing.

I loathe jigsaw puzzles to this day.

I decided to throw in another couple of old pix for good measure.

I liked this outfit a lot, and still do.

I would totally wear it now!

See my trike in the background?

I used to ride it down the driveway, through a gate over to the left in this pic, and smash it into that fence there.

And here I am in a maxi!

On the right I am standing at the door of the cubby house my Daddy built for me.

I once discovered his stash of Playboys hidden in there.

Dumb place to hide them, Daddy!!!

I was transfixed, and I'm sure that's where my love of early Playboy and the sexy women of the 60s'/70's came from!

I'm about 7 in these 2 pics, and probably 5 in the second pic.

I was certainly just 5 when I started school.

I frigging loved being a kid!

I was truly devasted when I reached my teens; I just didn't want to grow up.

Still don't!

You were as cute and stylish then as you are now. I love that maxi, the cape and the case you're carrying in the first snap.
I remember my Mum discovering a Playboy magazine in the street when we were little, bringing it home and me and my brother sitting on her lap leafing through it in total wonder. Naughty Mummy!
Love you loads

Dearest Helga,
you were a budding style queen even at that tender age.
I'd wear that plaid poncho ensemble today too, it rocks and the maxi is also fabtastico!
I don't have a first day at school pic and to be absolutely honest I can't even recall the day...I mustn't have been too impressed, eh!
I do remember thinking that school was pretty suck-ass and that I kept on longingly gazing out the window & being reprimanded for doing so...I was sent out to sit in the corridor a lot.
I met my very first "boyfriend" in the corridor, another "firebrand"...I thought he was awesome; the only kid in school who wore cowboy boots and had a Chopper bike, enough to make any 70s seven year old swoon I think you’ll agree ;)
Thanks for sharing these lovely memories with us.
Take care luv,

Hi Lurker here. You were so cute as a child.
I hear you about the playboys. My mom had an apartment building. I once found the former tennants teenaged sons stash of porn and empty beer cans in an attic closet!
Even worse was year later when I got hired at a job and found he was in senior management.Every time he walked past me I had to try not to giggle.

I am impressed by how blond your hair is. Did Mom make clothes for you? And were you an only child?
