A Sound of Music Moment

I'm wearing my newly made frock!!
I'm really happy with it, it fits well and I think it does suit me, despite my earlier reservations!
(would you agree?!)
It's been a grey, windy day except for this little pocket of sunshine which G and I made the most of.
It was a day when I had various plans for things to do, none of which came to pass.
So I've had a very quiet day, doing very little!
I perused the net, made some feta/olive muffins, cut out another version of this frock from a floral sheet and took random shots of myself.
Tonight we have our neice and 2 nephews coming over for a playstation frenzy.
We'll feed them up on junkfood and watch them go for it.
I've bought my neice Season 2 Volume 1 of Glee, so she'll probably abscond with my laptop to watch it.
I intend to pop out for a few drinkies at Justine's for a little bit.
I find being slightly boozed helps me deal with 9/11/12 year olds nicely!
Don't worry, G will be very responsible, they're his flesh & blood after all!!
Hahahaha!
I do actually really like these kids, our neice Maya especially!
She's gorgeous and arty and seems to genuinely appreciate me!

PS:The Sound of Music is one of my all time fave movies, and the soundtrack is my favourite thing to sing to myself when I'm feeling down!
I don't think I'll ever quite get over seeing Julie Andrews tits though.
What was that movie?!

It's lovely and it really does suit you. Fabulous colours. I love that bag too. So sad that Jaana's shop is now gone though.

I think that film was called S.O.B.! I with you on Sound of Music: first film i ever saw at the cinema. Love the curtain frock and the bag.

I love this dress pattern. I have a few frocks from Rita, made by her Mama in the early 50's, same style, I'm yet to find the pattern though.

I think the drinkies are called Mummy's/Auntie's little helper, I have them too.

As your nieces and nephews get older they will appreciate you all the more, I'm hoping that's what happens with mine anyway.

Well at least while you were doing nothing you were looking smashing!

I love old curtains. ALL my curtains at my old place were op-shopped and I had a few spares that are still waiting to be made into frocks!

I think I'd slip the young un's a bit of vodka in their orange juice and then go off to play with Justine.
Have the best time.
Love you!

YES the dress suits you up the wazooo! And you look "Bitchin" in it too.
Damn those shoes are awsome.

Soon the more rather boring days will come for me. At nights it is starting to get quite chilly out. But we usually don't see snow here until December I don't know if that will be the case this year though. In the Winter I seem to spend a bit more time at home.
I suppose I may have to take up crochet again... maybe make a Yoda hat. *lol*

The dress is a triumph, Helga, you look beautiful as always. The print is so pretty. It may be made out of curtains, but the similarity with Maria ends there, I think... Or are you running up some outfits for the niece and nephews out of curtains too?
YOU are one of my favourite things!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Looks like you did a fantastic job! If you don't mind a bit of unsolicited pattern advice: those 50s patterns place the bust point uncomfortably high. You could lower that bust apex down an inch or so; and then be able to wear it without jacking the girls up towards heaven. You look fabulous in the dress! Good color combinations!
