Just put your foot on the pedal

I frequently get asked how I cycle in heels.
I generally roll my eyes and proclaim "it's easy, I just put my foot on the pedal and go!"
Um, yes.
That's what I do.
I cycle in heels all the time!
I've never questioned it, I don't consider it anything out of the ordinary, I guess it's just part of my total package of fabulousness!
We went out to have dinner with our Brisbane friends at their friends house last night.
I love having dinner!
Ooo, and drinkies!
I wore:
Frock-part of a 60's 2 piece, Trade Me
Coat-50's, from our Brisbane friend Claire; she was pleased to see me enjoying it
Tights-from the divine Ms Vix
Handbag-60's, opshopped
Necklaces-Northern Thailand, and the rose quartz one is from Goreme, Turkey
Sunglasses-vintage Orotons, from the glorious Sarah (31 sleeps!)
Really, I don't see anything extraordinary about cycling in heels at any time, especially silver heels and a baby tiara.
Doesn't everybody?!

Silver heels and a baby tiara? I'd have to demand Jon pulled over so we could kidnap you if you were ever to cycle past in that magnificent outfit.
That lace dress is positively fabulous, I love it, I'm so glad you kept the colour as it was, you look absolutely freaking fabulous in it with your Victorian hair.
Love you!

What an absolutely stunning dress! Ha ha I rode a bike for the first time in years in Germany recently. Not only was it a bike but it was one of those terribly cute but hard to peddle old Dutch bikes! It took me a few goes around the park and some near accidents before I finally got the hang of it again. I guess it's true what they say though... you never do forget how to ride a bike!

You look absolutely stunning! I'm not much of one for cycling in heels, but I'm not much good at walking in them either (nor am I much good at riding bikes). It's always seemed like it would be easier than flat shoes though, because the heel bit would kind of grip the pedal?

I remeber when we visited Kyoto and everyone was cycling everywhere, including ladies in party frocks and high heels. I thought it was pretty fabulous, just like you:)

You are indeed the total package of fabulousness!
I'm really glad you kept that frock as it is, I love the dusky pinkness of it, and the neckline and bodice detailing are exquisite.
Baby tiara? Who knew tiaras had babies? Perfect way to top off a perfect outfit, from regal hair to fabulous tights and bag and silver heels for cycling!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Apparently Liz Taylor used to do housework while wearing a diamond tiara. I'm more shocked that she did housework than wore a tiara doing it. If in doubt ask, what would Liz Taylor do? Lol. I love your frock, it's beautiful and really suits you... Glamour puss. Xx

Oh, bloody hell - am imagining you as a cycling proficiency tutor: "now kids, dress as I do..." And lol at what Miss Rayne asked you!!!

Love your handbag - purrfect for the frock.

Listening to your band tracks - bloody marvellous, my dear. xx

Helga! Dahlink! That dress is one of my favourites! Glad to see you wearing it.

I have a very important cycling question. Do you wear a helmet? Is this compulsory in NZ? I feel that tiara and your fabulous hair AND a helmet might be incompatible, no?

I would be far more inclined to cycle if I could get away with it sans ugly helmet. (And mine is VERY ugly indeed.)

Beautiful lace dress! and that coat fabulous- your hair is so gorgeous! i am letting mine grow, but so annoying, hats come in handy to hide a bad hair day!

I have an obsession with vintag elace things and you lace thing is to-die-for!

I was asking my other half if it would be okay if I wore a tiara to work. I wasn't sure...

Hang on a second - LOOK AT THAT COAT!

Can I come over and play in your wardrobe one day?

Love the bodice on this dress! And I don't cycle enough to know how it might be in heels. I think I'd be more concerned about my skirt flying up in my face.

I wonder if the Queen cycles in heels?? Oh wait the Queen probably doesn't cycle at all.... And that is the reason WHY you are so amazing Helga! Because you can wear a crown and cycle too. *lol*
