All my friends know the low rider

I remembered all by myself to show you some of what lives in pretty vintage tins in my jewellery "nook".
(I don't know why I am calling it a nook, I don't really like the word...it's more of an alcove.)
The lily tin hold all of my fabulous 50's/60'/70's and some 80's s clip on and screw earrings, the majority of which were gifts from you lovelies!
I plan to turn some of these into pierced....the pain when I wear clip ons for more than a couple of hours is indescribeable!

The amusing (to me, anyway) tartan tin holds a super sized scrum of brooches, my scarf rings and my one and only pair of sweater clips.
A great many of these too, were gifts form you lovelies!
The gifted pieces are even more special to me than the lucky finds I have made over the years!

The scarf ring with the lady on it and the one above her don't actually work, but I wear all the others a lot...although I had forgotten about the triple flying duck one until I pulled these all out! It was my first one, and I had no idea what it was until the lady at the Goodwill in Riccarton told me! $2 later and it was mine all mine, and the precursor of a small collection....

This is a sort of new collection?!
I decided to pull out a few bits of fabric and the patterns I want to use with them...
The jacket pattern, left, is from Vix, and that bit of 60's fabric has been lying around for years!
The middle top piece of fabric was from a swap with Max, the bottom piece from Two Squirrels, the green crimplene was an opshop find, and the frock patterns were from Etsy.
(I also have a fabularsehole piece of fabric that Sarah sent me which I have temporarily mislaid, and a divine double breasted sailorish  frock pattern to use it for !)
Which shall I start first?!

And just for good measure, here's a couple of pix of what I wore to band practice the other night....

Nearly forgot; here's G demonstrating how to wear clip on earrings:

Inspiring stuff!

That photo of G just cracked me up! He's certainly covered most of the ways to wear clip on earrings. I remember at my high school all the popular girls went through a phase of clipping earrings onto their nipples when they wanted to look badass, but weren't allowed to get pierced. I just thought they looked batty and uncomfortable, but eh.

You are fabulosa, as per usual!

G is awesome!! Tee hee! Thanks for sharing your fabulous collection with us Helga - I hope you'll share more of your collections too. I used to have quite a few clip on earrings as a teenager and my mum wouldn't let me get my ears pierced, I remember they hurt like hell!

Haha! Now that IS inspiring! My man here just ran to my jewelry nook to try it. Although, I don't own any clip ons. He may be in there trying to pierce himself. I better go check....

You must have warbled like an angel in that divine outfit, or preferably a devil. Just look at those gams! Thanks for sharing your jewellery treasures. They look like a garden of wild flowers. Yes, maybe the piercings will help G too - I think they would be painful after a couple of hours!

Clip on earrings do hurt like hell, I think the moment you take them off and the blood can get back into your ear is the worst bit. At the risk of sounding stupid I must admit I have no idea what a sweater clip is. It's great to see part of your collection, I love being able to have a rummage through other people's stuff!
Love your rehearsal outfit, you do have great legs Helga and I love love love those shoes. xx

I have a lot of clips, so thanks for the inspiration ... Unfortunately I do not own such a beautiful autumndress (in your case, springdress) as the one you wear. The dress in combination with the red legs - whistle whistle

What a great collection! Mine isn't half as big. I love the idea with the tin boxes. I use an old purse for mine jewelry. Doesn't look as nice as the tin boxes.
Love your shoes!

Phwoar! I'm too mesmerised by your legs to say anything sensible...you hot chick brightening up a hungover Sunday!!!
Love your stash, clip-ons are the worst things in the world. I didn't have my ears pierced until I was 25 and can never forget the pain of pulling them off at the end of the day.
That flying duck clip rocks and the fabric and patterns are inspiring me to dust off the sewing machine and run something up to remedy my post-Krista blues!
Love you!

Oh I am totally really LOL at G-man right now!!! Awesome shit man!!!!!
But you know, calling an alcove 'the jewellery nook' really makes it sound like you have it all together and organised, which is really funny, I think you'll think the same!! Loving the short skirt, super wintry frisky!!!!

G better watch out or he may be starting a new trend! Ouch to clip-ons and screw-ons! When I was a child I pulled a screw-on off my aunts ear. I don't think she ever forgave me.

Nice choices you got the control!

Is there a way of converting clip-ons to pierced? I see all sorts of great clip-ons but don't usually bother getting them because of the pinch factor. Love your collection (and G's inspired modelling of them!) and your brooches and scarf clips.
Ooh, you look foxy in your band practice mini! Prim pussy bow up top, hot legs below! xxxxxx

Ha ha, that pic of G is so funny. I think it's hillarious how he gets roped into your blogging exploits. What a sport! I am so envious of your brooch collection. There are some beauties in there alright. I would love to see your band play, shame you're on the other side of the world to me ;( Btw, nook is a great word Reminds me instantly of all manner of Carry On style humour (read - innuendo) xxxxxxx

Loving G's work! I had shoes exactly like that but I wore them barefoot too many times and they got sweaty and ick. Nice story, huh?
Love that green fabric, it's dee-vine! x

Sexy mama! Great collection of earrings and brooches. Can't wait to see how you projects turn out. G looks very dashing.

Wickedly gorgeous legs darlin!! I think G should wear the pearl clip-ons on his nose when he plays in the band; it will start a rock-star trend, I'm sure ;)

how long did the clip ons last before G pulled them off in agony? I seriously can't wear them, they hurt too much, but they always look soooo good. Definitely convert the lot. I love your collections and your scandalously short skirt for band practice. I might have a shirt pattern to send you, let me know if you want xxx

Your outfit is really cute, particularly that necktie/cravatte! I am craving one now!
I definitely think your hubby had a great idea, we should all start copying it!

You know, when I get my act together and unpack all of my jewelry making supplies (hopefully this winter), I just might have to remedy your only one sweater clip problem :)

Oo! The sparkly green fabric! SPARKLY GREEN! Loved all your baubles. I didn't know you could get clip on earrings turned into a pierced version. Well, I learn something every day.
