There'll be crocuses to bring to school tomorrow

In Spring, I tend to play Joni Mitchell's "Blue" album a lot.
It's an alltime fave of mine.
Musically, lyrically, vocally it just touches me, and not in an innappropriate way!
I've always fancied playing piano, but have never gotten off my arse to learn.
This merges into another fancy of mine, which is to sing Joni and Kate Bush numbers in a dark, dingey, but not smokey, bar, whilst looking effortlessly fabularse.
A gal is entitled all to her fancies, and also to not be arsed making them reality!

Frock-part of a 60's two piece, opshopped about 15 yeasr ago!
Coat-gift from Nix, she found it for $2!
Socks-G's Mama
Shoes-Trade Me
Handbag-60's, from a Wellington friend
Floral headpiece-handmade by gorgeous Hannah, and from a giveaway she had  while back
50's sunglasses, earrings and grey beaded necklace-from lovely Sue
Chain necklace-from our Vix, who is on the mend!
Pendant-from Kensington Market, I think, my first time in London, 1989

I can see you draped over a baby grand piano belting out some tunes!! I learnt the piano when I was a kiddiewinkle, I can only remember a few things, not enough to give an entertaining performance tho. Always thought how fun it would be to learn again. You are looking most fabularse today, you are my favourite Trollop in the entire world!!!!!

Okay, why not sing in that hot, dark bar? I can see you crooning and swooning, touching your audience in appropriate ways. It would be awesome!! I wanna hear those heels crunch on that gravel!

I like a bit of Kate Bush myself and sing (wail) along to The Kick Inside,
(a present from my parents for passing my O levels!) Never learnt the piano either but I'm not bad on the triangle! The blue and green combo rocks and so does your fab necklace courtesy of Vix.

Yes, everyone should be entitled to their fancies. They sort of taught us piano at school but I was shit. Can't remember any of it now. That frock is lovely. The headpiece is very pretty too.

I LOVE that headpiece - the last time we caught up you were wearing it and I thought it was super rad.

I love socks and fabulous shoes!

If my dream of becoming a writer ever comes true, I think I shall have to quote this line somewhere in my imaginary book:

A gal is entitled all to her fancies, and also to not be arsed making them reality!

I love it. And I love your socks & heels! x

Vix said...

That has to be the quote of the day, you philosophical little sausage! I can just image you looking sexalicious perched on a barstool in a deliciously seedy bar crooning to dirty old men in raincoats.
Other than her good looks, great hair and The Hounds Of Love (and I still prefer The Futureheads cover) I never really got Kate Bush. I know I'm a freak 'cos every other woman in the world seems to adore her.
That frock is gorgeous and the coat Nix bought you is another of my favourites. The headband is so sweet and the ankle socks are utter madness!
Love you!

I learned piano for years and years but only after that discovered I have a dyslexia-type disorder where I can't read music. Annoying, I have pitch, rhythm etc' but can only play by ear.

Love that coat! $2!?! Wow!

It's weird that I never got Kate Bush, but last Sunday I bought her old "Never Forever" vinyl record and when the guy from the stall asked me why I was taking a female artist record I said: "Because my friends love Kate Bush and I want to listen to her"..well, it could sound even weirder because I was thinking about you and the other girls from blogland, my virtual-real friends!!
Today you are more stunning than ever and the spring light really suit you! Those shoes are marvellous and so the little denim coat and the fabulous frock!
I'd kill to come to one of your concerts!!
Lots of love xxxxx

I'd love to be able to play any instrument, I'm so unmusical! Pah! I don't think anyone could rock neon green socks like you, I love that coat too, and the speccys... I just love the whole outfit. Xx

You are a vision in your green and blue!!!
I love joni mitchell--such a POET!!

I could you see in a smoky bar, resplendant in sequins, rhinestones and a boa, draped over a grand piano with a cocktail in hand-lustily crooning love songs while a hunky yet deliciously wicked-looking man accompanies you on the piano.

Vix isn't alone, I never got into Kate Bush either. Or Joni Mitchell for what it's worth. Too each her own.

Love the shape of those shades. They almost match your shoes. It blows my mind that you're talking "Spring" and I'm trying to remember how to dress for "Fall".

Love the head piece and the socks !

I can just see you as a piano playing singer. I always wanted to play too because of Kate Bush, but never did learn.
I love that dress and that's a rather fabalous bag.

not only do i lack musical talents i sing like a drain, i think to sing in a dark room has a romantic, glamourous and mysterious air and you are the woman to do it x

I always wanted to learn the piano but my hubby says I am WAY too impatient to learn it.
You look so serene. Love your hair and overcoat.

I am totally with you on the Joni and Kate love, and the desire to be able to play the piano without actually bothering to bloody well learn! Well, I did have lessons as a kid, and can play a bit, but nowhere near well enough to satisfy myself. Or anyone listening!
Blue is one of my favourite ever albums too, and that song is just so sweet and sad, especially given the back story.
Perhaps you should just be draped over the piano in a sleazy bar, a la Michelle Pfeiffer in the Fabulous Baker Boys, singing sexy torch songs to a melancholy accompanying pianist...
I am so taken with this image, I haven't even commented on your outfit! Blue and green, gorgeous! Spring! Flowers! You! Beautiful! xxxxx

OOoh la la la la la - I LOOOVE that frock - have we seen it before? I need to see more! I adore the fabric and colours!

The socks and shoes are exquisite and I love all of your jewellery, as always.

Love you more than green green grass! Sarah xxx

Look at you in your Spring finery! Sooo jealous, as it's sooo dark in the mornings over here as we head into winter. Blue was always my fave Joni album too. I still have the LP, as I still have most of Kate's too. I even have the pink and white vinyl version of Hounds of Love ;)

Crocuses! Now I'm very afraid that the package I finally got in the mail last Friday is the wrong season! Yikes.

Another Joni Mitchell fan! I loved her first album with her artwork on the front and my second favorite is Hejira. Love that Black Crow song. I always wished I could be her back in high school. I think partially because we share the same name, but her talent is truly out of this world...from another place.
I'd come and give a listen when you perform. Be sure to let me know the dates of your performance!

p.s. those are the coolest glasses!

You look fabby-dabby :) I feel exactly the same about joni mitchell :) x

You could still make that fantasy a reality Helga, I could imagine you like that easily. But like you say, dreaming is fun too. xx

Amber of Butane Anvil said...

Oh, your floral headpiece, chandelier earrings, and dreamy-print dress, Helga! And stupendous sunglasses! Eee! Such rich and deep and lovely fancies too - hang on tight to those babies for sure!

Seeing your blooming iris recently and talk of crocuses might help tide me over 'til next April / May.
