When I met you in a restaurant, you could tell I was no debutante

We listened to Blondie, obviously, on our way back from Kaikoura....
Can't get Deborah Harry's dulcet tones out of my head!
Gawd that woman has a belter of a voice!

We came home on Sunday (there are some more Kaikoura pixs to come, as I was wearing mostly blue I didn't want to tire you out with several days of blue outfits!) to find our ginormous hedge had been tamed by our friend Nick.....he catsat for us, and also has a gardening business!
Nothing better than putting money into a friends pocket!

I have no idea  why I felt the urge to look leery....

The hedge no longer towers over us, we and our neighbours are now basking in the extra light!

Frock-uglytastic 70's, opshopped, haven't worn it in a few years!
Jacket-70's, opshopped and cropped by moi
Tights-retail
Shoes-70's, a gift many years ago
Handbag-60's, a thrift store in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico
Sunglasses-vintage store in Portland
Earrings-60's clip ons, from darling Kitty
70's bling necklace-opshopped
Cat pendant-opshopped
(someone has matching earrings, I think it's Mandy ?, how fabulous!)

Oooo, I came home yesterday afternoon to a Parcel of Joy from the stupendous being that is  Vix !!
You know what we say to that, don't you?!
SQUEE!

All manner of delights, including mad lip decals I can't wait to try, a fabularse crimplene shirt and skirt, sewing notions and a vintage pantalon pattern and a Barry M eyeliner and a vintage Cambriodge scarf for G and a scarf for me ...... and the most hilarious card!
Super SQUEE!
Thank you, darling!!

X

PS: Funny, a few of you see those shoes as blue...against black they do look blue to me, but against navy, they look black!
BIZARRE!

YAY! Your lady garden has been trimmed!!!

You look exquisite in these beautiful earthy tones darling - the red tights with the tan shoes are exquisite! And I do adore the fab uglytastic frock - and that jacket is one of my faves on you - the shape is perfection.

The parcel of delights from Vix is marvellous - the skirt is a DREAM! Can't wait to see you in it.

Love you more than crimplene! Sarah xxx

Always good to keep those bushes in order! We get letters from the local MP complaining about the unruliness of ours...how rude!
The print on that frock is gloriarse, I love the pimped-up jacket and I now know I need orange tights in my life, I love them!
Your hair is looking particularly splendid today!
Can't wait to see those violent lips on you, you sexy woman!
Love you!

You know I'm loving orange as a runner up to green at the moment, so I really love that outfit. The frock is fab & it looks great with that jacket, & your hair looks so pretty flowing in a Sarah Misfit kind of way. Xx

You are the second blogger I have seen burnt orange tights on today and now I need to get me some! As for the dress, it's my kind of ugly. If you ever tire of it I can give it a good home!;) Love the straw bag too. In fact, love everything about today's post, including the sultry Debbie xxx

Love the colours in your frock and the cat pendant is to die for,

Well I think you look rather cat-stalking-like (in a sexy way!) rather than leery, and that can only be a good thing!! Loving these colours on you and top choice of background my love!!

Love the print of your uglytastic dress and the 70's necklace and 'stoney' ring are lovely. You are so clever always finding the exact shade of tights to co-ordinate with your outfits. What a splendiferous parcel from Vix, Violent Lips sound very intriguing!
Still love Debbie too.

I totally dig your cropped blazer. Great dress, and spot-on accessories!

I just assumed your "leery" poses were charade-illustrating the "cat-sitting" potion of your friend's stay as the hedge was speaking for itself. :)

I love the frock, I don't think it's anything like ugly - print, colours, sexy buttons, what's not to love? And with those fabularse orange tights (I just bought some!) and glorious sandals, and the Titian tresses a-flowing, you are scrumptious!
Great parcel of goodies from darling Vix, AND a bush trim - you lucky gal! xxxxxxx

Your frock is a kind of those things that I call "ugly/cute find", it depends on what you are wearing with them that makes the difference and you really won the challenge!! You can bring back to life everything!!
Now I want to try again my old orange tights, my ex boyfriend told me once that my legs looked like two gigantic carrots in them (how mean are some guys)and never worn them again, but now I'm in love!!!
Vix presents are beautiful,I like the skirt, never seen lip decals, I hope you'll show us how they look on you, they seem pretty cool!

Love xxxxxx

Debbie Harry is a goddess, that is all!! and she looks amazing at her age!!

Love you in the autumn colors! That dress is so ugly it's FANTASTIC!! Nothing like a retro 70's tack-tastic print!! Of course--on you it could look nothing less the smashing!!

much love!

Forest City Fashionista said...

I love the delicious autumn colours - all those rich browns, golds and pumpkins!! I would put that dress in the "so ugly it's cool" category, and of course, you've styled it using your magical Helga Powers so it looks amazing. Vix's package definitely worth a "SQUEE"!

Bella Q said...

You are a ginger goddess! I can't get enough of you in blue but this lovely play of oranges and brown (getting me in the mood for my Fall) is so lovely! Congrats on your tidy bush! Muah!

Melanie said...

Uglytastic!! Dy-no-mite! No wonder your leery pose is so excellent. I'd want to do that too. But I think your poses look more catlike cool a la go-go-dancer-in-a-cage than leery. But it's too bad I could see you wielding a chainsaw in this outfit helping your friend garden. That would have been uglytastic supertramp super.

Ivy Black said...

God I love those colours on you. Delishhhh.
I'm feeling very autumnal just now and going mental for orange.
Nothing nicer than a trimmed bush I say...

Hi Helga! I took a break from blog perusing, but glad to see you're still looking amazing. I love these Fall colors on you! that's really neat that you went to see Blondie. I'm glad that she still sounds great. I remember hearing her on tv when that Maria song came out and I thought she had lost her sound. but I guess she got it back.

I get very envious every time you post a picture of that amazing bag! Ah and how lucky are you to have a house sitter who also fixes up your gardens!! There is an unruly patch of garden out the back of the house that I just cannot tame no matter how hard I try... so yesterday I bought packets of wild flowers which I'm just going to throw all over the place. If the garden is going to be a mess, it may as well be a bright colourful mess!

How can you use the word "ugly" in connection with that dress? It's fabulous! Really like that colour combo on you.

I completely agree on putting money into a friend's pocket - good on you.
