Falalalala lalalalaaaaaaa

The best thing about the silly season is that favourite people from across the ditch (Australia) come home to visit their families, and we treasure every second we get to spend with them in between family obligations.....
The other night was an evening of much good food and wine with Claire and Mike, over from Brisbane, and we were required to dress up for the occasion.
Just one of my favourite things to do!

Alsatians fall unconscious at the shadow of your call

Jo and I had a girls night earlier in the week!
Our plan-to have dinner at Harlequin House, a fairly flash restaurant in town, and then spinning our favourite old 80's records and blithering into the night back at her house in Lyttleton.

Isn't this a lovely building?!
It is a 150 year old villa (this is really old for us!) that has been restored and renovated beautifully....
That Victorian clocktower in the background is still stuck at 12:51 pm, the time of the February 2011 earthquake. It is currently under repair.

I'm feeling a bit naked without a hair ornament!
This mimosa took my mind off the matter, thankfully.

Love these old sash windows.

And the detailing on this seat!

My starter of orecchiette with duck ragu and broad beans.

A lovely Australian pinot noir was just the ticket to follow.

Groper, caramelised witloof & pickled courgette for my main, with a side of Soft carrots, sumac & yoghurt ....mmmmmmm

And then back to Jo's....

This is Harvey, Jo's fiance's cat, who has been successfully transplanted from Perth!
He's quite the schmoocher.

More wine?!
Sure thing.

I'm not sure when we staggered off to bed, but I am proud to say that it was after midnight!
That's late, late, late for me!
I need the practice for New Year......

Happy Holidays, lovelies!

Here we are stranded, somehow it seems the same

Apparently I was frocked up rather spectacularly for our last day of work for the year...although I thought I was looking fairly casual?!
I am frequently over dressed, true....maybe it was the flashy gold trim and speckles in the fabric (that the pix don't show, sadly) of this scrummy square dance frock that tipped it into a more festive affair...
Who knows, it was nice to end the working year with a pile of compliments.

Frock and sunglasses-Etsy
Shoes-Trade Me (I'm quite besotted with the berry colour)
Earrings-from darling Leisa
Gold beads-60's, opshopped
Handbag-vinyltastic, opshopped in Australia

I've re-organised my shoe crates, as they were bloody annoying to get into!
Front left is a divoon ensemble my lucious sistercousinwife Sarah sent me!
It's silver and white, and kind of faux (FAUX!!) lacey, not that you can really tell.......
A long time friend of G's popped his head in here the other day and pronounced that I am out of control!
What is he talking about?!

G and I had a date night-we went to see The Hobbit, The Desolation of Smaug in 3D....it was my first experience with 3 D, and frankly, I didn't think it was especially interesting. If anything, it gave the film a bit of a cheap sitcom look.
Yes, we are Lord of the Rings fans, and we're thrilled to bits about The Hobbit films!
Especially as Richard Armitage is fecking delicious, and that mighty fine Lee Pace has turned up in the this one as the Elf King!!!
Double drool!
I wouldn't mind being the meat in their sandwich!
Just add the voice of Smaug (OMG, Benedict Cumberpatch!) and I might just explode!

Frock-square dance! Retropolitan
Boots-retail nearly 20 years ago!
Handbag-a Rex, opshopped

Pendant-70's glam, opshopped

This house, just up the road from us, has the sled up all year round.
We've been waiting for them to put a Santa up, but they've just shoved a pile of other stuff up instead, including an enormous wreath.
If they had a Santa, I would be tempted to see if they'd let me climb up and perform acts of heathen depravity with him for your viewing pleasure.

It's all a bit mental!
And there's lights!
I'm not convinced.
It's (supposed to be) Summer (it's actually been quite chilly on and off!), what has snow, reindeer and a sled got to do with the season?!
I think there is a good argument for moving the Christmas thing to June in the Southern Hemisphere.
I might actually enjoy it and embrace it in the middle of Winter!

Oh, but the sun goes down every night

We (Loafer) had an opportunity to fill in after a cancellation at Jane's Bar, a teeny tiny little local bar last Sunday night.
We jumped at it, as it made a great warm up to our New Years Eve gig, where we are playing at The Pier Hotel  in Kaikoura!

It's a bit tough, gigging at the start of a working week, but feck it, it's the last week of work for the year, and vodka martini's are my new favourite friend!

I wore:
Frock-50's, Small Earth Vintage
Shoes-Trade Me
Handbag-a Rex, from the sweetest Squirrel
Hairflower-an amalgamation of two opshopped flowers
Necklace-from my boobalicious sistercousinwife
Sunglasses-Wasteland, San Francisco

Some of you were wondering what the radical thing is that G and I decided to do......we decided that we are going to do up and sell our house, and hopefully find a lovely house in a more fabularse neighbourhood!
It's a bit freaking me out, but it feels like it's time to get moving on!
