The width of a room that could hold so much pleasure inside

All hail the re-appearance of Mrs Slocombe!
Ooo, indeed, I felt I was channelling her splendiness with my jabot.
We went to see the latest Tarantino film, Django Unchained today!
It was a most excellent film, incidentally, with all the Tarantino goodness we've come to know and love.
Jamie Foxx was quite the fox, most especially when he pimped himself up in  divoon blue knickerbockers with a matching waistcoat and a superb cravat.
Christoph Waltz is rather fanciable, and o, what wouldn't I give for a smooch of those cushiony lips of Kerry Washington!
She wore a scrumptious yellow regency era frock in a few scenes, and an imenseley covetable black and white frock in some later scenes, I must note.
Quentin does the best dialogue and soundtracks!
I'm sure Mrs Slocombe would approve with a wink and a tipple from her hipflask....

I was a bit excitable when we got home, and had to have a glass of bubbly to settle down.
Often a Tarantino film makes me want to go out and start a fight.

Starting a fight whilst wearing a cape is never a good idea, however.

Cape-darling Tamera
Frock-70's, opshopped
Frock with jabot-a Helgafication of a frock Vix sent me a while back
Shoes-Trade Me
Handbag-70's, opshopped
Supercilious expression-all my own

I confess I feel a perverse pleasure in it slowly, gently, becoming cape weather, but fully expect to be whinging about it by June.

LOL. I enjoyed envisioning you beating someone in your lovely outfit - but you'd need the champagne bottle, which you would have smashed in half to wield menacingly at your foe. Fabulous cape.

You certainly are channeling the pussy loving Mrs Slocombe. I must say I am giddy over that bag, I love it's structure & the tooled factor. I have a cape that belonged to my Nana, but I haven't plucked up the courage to wear it yet. Enjoy what's left of your Sunday darling! Xx

I love a good Tarantino film, haven't seen that one yet. Whenever I watch his flicks I feel like a nymphomaniac on psychedelics.

Groovy cape too. I can't wait for spring. It's the only time of year when it's not too hot and not too cold. I'm a weather wimp.

The cape is fabulous and the jabot divine. Good to know a bit about the film - I think I will wait for it to come out on DVD because I know its a very long film. Just read your post on the awful rude man and agree with your comments. How lovely to be chatted up by a younger man! You look very fetching in pink. Great score with the dresses - I think Wyndham used to be the Farmers brand, I have a couple of similar ones.

We just love Tarantino! And Helga .

I think if Quentin knew you, he would sign you up for a film in an instant! Cape-wearing, bubbly-quaffing, jabot-toting, supercilious bad ass fight-starter!
You are on fine Mrs Slocombe-esque form, I love the little added jabot and the pattern on the cape and of course the gorgeous bag.
I am waiting for it to become a little warmer as you anticipate cape crusader weather. Bet you get cooler before we get hotter! xxxxxxx

Although I have been enjoying this beautiful long hot summer I will admit to preferring the inbetween seasons. I scored a divoooooon mohair cape for $10 that is going to crank your handle when I show it off to you!! I shall be a cape wearwr this winter!

Aah it would be so fun to go fighthappy in that outfit...Lets be honest it would be so fun to beat the crap out of certain people in any outfit...But my violent leanings aside...You look absolutely DIVINE! Actually the word divine has stopped doing you justice, I shall have to coin a new work just for you...Your handbag is going to haunt my dreams!

Ooh! and I loved the movie so much, Christoph Waltz was AWESOME! What wouldn't I give to be a bounty hunter! xxx

You can't beat a bit of Mrs. Slocombe style, it does suit you too. I love Tarantino, I've not seen Django yet though. Xx

We share cultural references. I'm a big QT fan and love Mrs. Slocombe. Cute outfit.

I haven't seen that movie yet. We don't have TV so I haven't seen much about it but I've heard a little bit about it. Jamie Foxx in blue knickers? Sounds superb!

Yay, Mrs Slocombe is back! I just adore your Grace Brothers uniform darling. The last post you did in this outfit with the You Tube clip of Mrs Slocombe's best bits (ooh-er!) made my day.

I know what you mean about cape weather. The changing of winter to spring and summer to autumn is always exciting. You'll get lots more chances to wear your gorgeous new brown boots too. I can just see them with this dress and some turquoise tights!

Missed your blog! Thank god I'm back. :D
You look stunning as always. Good to hear that the new Tarantino movie is good. Hubby would love to see it also and maybe we will go next week.
Your cape is amazing. And I don't want to get into a fight with you. With or without cape.

I had to look up jabot. I've learned so much from blogs - jabot, jerkin, all kinds of useful words!

I am going to look for a cape or two - I think they will be perfect for controlling my hot flash personal climate zone.

And I love your shoes!

I suddenly just pictured Mrs. Slocombe in the middle of a Tarentino flick, and wondering how that would turn out? I loved Django, especially Christoph Waltz, whose character I found extremely sexy, and Kerry Washington is one of the loveliest creatures alive. Yes, Tarantino films do get the blood going and the heart racing, don't they!

Trees said...

Django was awesome! I loved that blue pantaloon outfit also. Lovely shoes and cape Miss Helga. I confess I am looking forward to cooler weather too, I'm just more of a winter time gal:)

I think if Tarantino could read this post he would be delighted by the vision of girls fighting in capes and fancy Slocombesque clothes!!!
You are wonderful in this outfit and you did a great film review, can't wait to watch Django!!
Love xxxxxx

Oh divoooooooon darling!!!! It's so wonderful to see Mrs Slocombe out and about in full glory you fresh and frisky bint you!!!!! Django was certainly wonderful - mmmmmmmmm JF in the royal blue with jabot, whipping and shooting those good for nothings got me quite moist I must say!! It horrified me at how many slaves people had working for them not only on their farms and in the fields but in their houses! Tarantino rubs our noses in the nasty bits of history and modern realities with such panache - ooooooh let's wrestle baby!!!! xoxoxoxoxoxo

Cape-fecking-tastic. How do those superheroes cope when kicking arses and wearing one? we need to know.
I adore that cape, well, the whole blinking outfit. I adore Tarantino and am dying to see Django, love Christoph Waltz, he was divine in Inglorious Basterds!
Love you! xxxxxxxxxxxx

Oh Helga, no one rocks a jabot, cape (with edge piping!) and cut-out shoe details like you! Those glasses are totally hot, and my money'd be on you in any fight, probly wouldn't even smudge your stockings!

Further to your comments over by me and Forest City Fashionista, we bemoaned your far-away-ness AT LENGTH. xoxoxoxo

Krista Gassib said...

You perverse, NO! Never. Snicker turning into a full on LAUGH! I have been wanting to see Django so bad, glad to hear it lived up to his prior masterpieces.
Mrs Slocombe 's got nothing on you babe! You are a hottie!!!
