If you're blue and you don't know where to go....

O, my freakin' GOURD, it's only 6 sleeps until Helgastock 2013!
I've been panicking about what the hell I'm going to take to wear, but I think I have finally settled down and settled on a small selection of frocks and accessories, bearing in mind that Sarah and I will likely be shopping up a storm!

Hmmmmmm...

A gal needs a good Bloody Mary to keep herself sane with all this to-ing and fro-ing over her travel wardrobe!

I'm probably most excited about going to Melbourne for the first time!
(yeah,  Sarah's gonna be popping my Melbourne cherry!)
I have seen far less of my birth country than I have of New Zealand, I am ashamed to say.
I suppose we all take "home" for granted, but now that I truly think of New Zealand as "home" (after 24 years here) I realise just how much wonderfulness there is to see in Australia!

This time next week, I'll be waking up in Canberra and we'll be hopping on the road for our first port of call, darling Dee's........with a lot of opshopping on the way!
All together now:

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Goodness, and y'know, it's about 1 year since I was hanging out with Kitty and Desiree!
I love my real life blog friends!

I love photographic printed fabrics!
Need more!

Frock-from the sweetest Squirrel
Vintage nurses cape
Tights-retail
Beret-opshopped, I think
Shoes-Trade Me
So Obviously Rex 60's handbag-gift from G
Sunglasses-opshopped
Earrings-from the sexacious Desiree

My dear Nettie!
If I'm ever blue (definitely not now after reading your blog and watching Dirty Dancing 2 - Havanna Nights), I'm gonna go to NZ to see you, that's gonna give me a whole lot of colours again :) By the way, I've always admired your style. I'd like to copy it, but it would only look fake on me. So you are a superstar!
Heidi from far away Austria who would love to see you again

You always rock red, white and blue, darling, and with the addition of a Bloody Mary and plaits, you have me fairly drooling, you delicious sauce pot! Fab frock, Supernurse cape, jaunty beret, cool shades, what's not to love?
SQUEEEEE indeed! How exciting, you and Sarah will have such wonderful adventures. Don't sweat the packing, you KNOW you will be having an op shop frenzy and come back with twice as much as you take!
Isn't it brilliant when blog buddies become real life friends? It's such an unexpected bonus from blogging, and makes it all so much more worthwhile.

I hate packing for trips, suddenly I forget every outfit I've worn in the last year. And can't remember what goes with what. Geez, I need a personal assistant.

If there are radio reports of strange squee-like noises being picked up here in Vancouver, I'll know it's you two misbehaving so wonderfully down there. I don't know...this may be time for triple-bagging or quatruple bagging.
Your are an icon in the doorway.

Sooo jealous! Last time I went to Melbourne I had to buy an extra suitcase to hold all my op-shop finds. And to top it all off I treated myself to a non-cattle-class seat on the plane home. Best trip ever!

Hey Helga I think you'll like Melbourne! Check out the Lyrebird Lounge in Ripponlea if you get the chance - a little reminiscent of Janes Bar in Christchurch with good live local music most nights.
