The clouds all scatter and we ride the outside lane

I've been reading the memoirs of John Taylor and Andy Taylor, Duran Duran bass and guitar player, respectively........I was hoping for some really juicy titbits, but both, especially John's, were pretty wholesome, except for some rampant booze and drug indulgence. (Hurrah!)

I was obsessed with Duran Duran in my early teens..I do hope the other tree members come out with memoirs, preferably really juicy ones.
Especially Simon, he was my favourite!
Who else was into them?! Who was your favourite?!

I got to see them play at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, which was my first big concert ever, and I was disgusted at all the girls screaming!!!
They did the "Seven and the Ragged Tiger" album photoshoot at the State Library-where I just happened to be on a school trip.
That was pretty awesome!
Nowadays, I still love their first album, but the other 80's albums are just too 80's for me, and I haven't really listened to any of their later albums.

Funny that you mention the last of the Mohicans....that was Paul & my first date! Duran Duran have never done much for me. But you in red, white & blue most certainly do! The frock, that bag, the jacket & those legs....divoooon! Xx

I saw Nick Rhodes at a fashion show in London about 10 years ago - he was still doing full face make-up!!

Not a massive fan of Duran Duran at the time although I always thought John Taylor was a bit of alright. Love the Greatest Hits cd though. Squealing at the red, white and blue combo and the bag is flipping gorgeous. xx

Hold Back the Rain is my favourite DD song. Simon wrote it to John who was starting to spiral into the drug culture.

Nick will always be my favourite. I finally got to see Duran Duran for the first time in 2011, in the front row, in Montreal. Dream come true! Their newest album, All you need is now, is actually quite good. You should give it a listen!

I knew that frock of Curtise's would look good but it's beyond good now you've chopped it, I get to perve at your legs and everything! Hoorah to fuck off bows, too!
Nah! Never liked Duran Duran, too pretty and clean cut for me. Prefered those bad ass Stray Cats! Everyone had their autographs art school 'cos they were local boys (apart from Londoner, Simon!)
Love you! xxxxxx

You are a total red, white and blue delight!

How do you make winter look so glamorous? I love that shorter length dress on you with those killer heels. Just fab-lus as they say in Welsh Wales.

Duran Duran. They weren't my favourites, but I did enjoy looking at them and singing along to their tunes. I liked Simon Le Bon and the one who married Amanda de Cadenet best (can't remember his name). I also rather love Yasmin Le Bon. Isn't she a beaut? xxxx

Ivy Black said...

You are so gorgeous I could eat you fuck off bow an' all.
Nope...never into Duran Duran I'm afraid, love. In fact I would get off the dance floor if they came on. I do love Yasmin though. I'd stay on the dance floor with her all night.

Gee, love what you did with the dress, and the matchy matchy jacket with the bow clinches it - you are fantastic!

Oh divine and then you add duran duran in as well! I am swooning with love! My teenage heart was lost to John Taylor! Oh how i loved him! i saw them play 3 times at the NEC in birmingham UK, and then last month I found out that john Taylor had visited the school at the end of my rd(He had gone to school here in little old redditch!) he was at the end of the rd and i never knew...i had to read about it in the local papers! I wondered what all the old biddies running past waving pants was all about!!! I was gutted! I keep trying to break into the school now to sniff seats (who knows he may have sat in one!) oooo yeah give me some pixie boots and a big fringe some frilly sleeves and I'm right back there in love! xxx

Love the bow Miss Helga.......it's brilliant.
The pattern on your fabulous dress is amazing. You are the queen of red, white and blue I think.
My fourth form English book was covered with a photo of Duran Duran...tee hee. I thought it was so cool, snigger.
Anyhow you were in my thoughts.......for some wonderful reason every shop I went into today had something that just looked like you....now if I had won lotto this weekend I would have bought the lot and sent it in a big package of joy. Alas I can only sending love. V

I want some juicy Simon Le Bon gossip! He's my favourite - I'd definitely go see them now - if I could afford it, they're getting expenive! I want another Duran Duran t shirt too! You look totally amazing in those sunnies!! I love the red, white and blue, you own that colour combo now. That bag is lush and I love that bow! xxx

pastcaring said...

The dress looks fabularse shorter, darling - good call! Of course, you always rock RW&B and a fuck off bow, you are the Queen of those!
I wasn't a Duranie, though I must say I can sing along with all the singles any day of the week! Girls on Film is my fave, Planet Earth and Hungry like the wolf tie for second place. Yeah, I know you asked which of the band was our favourite but I didn't have one so I'm talking songs instead! I always thought Simon had the most dreadful voice though... I think you should do us a full on retro 80s New Romantic dress-up post - pleeeeease do! xxxxx

would it be strange of me to admit that I want to lick your sunglasses? Yes? Well then, nevermind. I don't wanna lick your sunglasses.

I especially love your jacket and specs, and the way the sunlight reflects off Le Rex. Great photos.

Yes, you WOULD have fainted from sheer gorgeousness overload..I know I almost did!

My friend who worked the store with me was laughing at me as I followed that drop-dead-gorgeous man with my eyes, and my jaw on the floor, oblivious to all else. The same thunderbolt hit me several years later at my girlfriend's stagette; he was a young male stripper of Spanish descent-and he was absolutely shoulder-to-shoulder with Eric in terms of sheer gorgeousness!

He looked EXACTLY like that young man carrying the banner of the Virgin in Dali's "Christopher Columbus Discovers America" painting but with a better physique.

In fact, I just remembered: he played the role of "Sir Loin" in the movie "Detroit Rock City" and was also Playgirl cover boy/centrefold when I first met him...if you Google "Derek DeLuis Playgirl centerfold" maybe you can see "it" for yourself! Be sure to remain seated, your knees will be weak!

That hair bow is a bit subtle isn't it? I almost didn't notice it! How many red, white & blue outfits can you come up with before the years end? :)
