I dare you to be proud, to dare to shout aloud...

On Sunday I did a quick grocery run before settling into a lovely afternoon with the sun streaming into the house, a book, and a few glasses of vodka and raspberry juice........mmmmmmmm...
At the supermarket I came across the most splendid looking older lady with a big blonde bouffant hairdo, rings fairly dripping off her fingers and dressed to the hilt!
I stopped in my tracks to exclaim over her just as she caught sight of me, and we swapped praise and admiration  over our mutual glory......feck I love to see women making an effort (well, any woman, really!) and looking glamourous, even if only for the groceries!
My Mama certainly never left the house without her lipstick on, and I do my best to uphold her standards.

Yessssssssssss....
(note; in my best supercilious tone)

Frock-made by moi using a curtain and a 50's pattern from the divoon Vix (it was actually the toile, but despite not quite fitting right, I bloody wear it rather than waste it!)
Cape-60's, Dashfield Vintage
Belt-thrifted in New Mexico
Petticoat-opshopped
Tights-retail
Shoes-gift from my mate Nix
Handbag-a Rex, from my scrummy G Star
Necklace-from gorgeous Krista
Earrings-from my sistercousinwife Sarah
Cocktail hat-Madame Butterfly's

Humpers!
Almost an arse shot; I expect he's a little more dignified than Peepers.

As am I, clearly.

The blossoms are out in abundance, and G and I stopped on the way home from work to try and capture their beauty....didn't quite manage it, but you get the idea...

Here's a bonus pic of my baby Peepers reveling in the comfort of the couch.
The little cutie!

Peepers! I want to snuggle with her, I bet her fur smells divine! (Is it just me who really loves to smell my cats' fur? Especially when they are all warm from the sunshine? Yeah, I'm clearly odd....)
But enough about the pussy - let's talk Helga! You are magnificent, my darling, rather regal, I think. I can't see where that dress isn't fitting right, looks damn good to me, and the hat and cape are quite wonderful. Nice shoes. Ahhhhh.
And I do love to see you with your fake fringe and fabulous mini sniffing the blossom. Which sounds like some porny euphemism. Helga Sniffs The Blossom, woo hoo!
Love you! xxxxxx

Oh, amazing hat and cape on you! And so talented - fabu dress! Cheers to done-up women and casual kitties! xoxo

Oh Helga you do look marvelous! That cape is wonderful too. Nothing like a tartan cape or coat for the cold months.

I love that hat with the cage veil - just stunning! You are my idol of always looking so "done", Helga - rock on with your bad self (and have another vodka/razz while you're at it, yes, don't mind if I have one too).

Aw, lovely kitties!

It's a wonderful hat you're sportin' and wish I could have seen that woman in the grocery with my own eyes. Jealous of the flowering trees.

I hate to see people just not making an effort. (Yes, I know I sound terribly judgemental!) It makes me sad and disappointed in the human race. But on the other hand I LOVE spotting beautifully made up, glamorous, frocked up people because it makes my heart sing. Darling Helga, you always make my heart sing!

Well aren't you looking extra saucy! I love spotting other gals looking good and we could sure use more mutual adoration among women. I think you have so much beauty going on I could just stare at ya for a long while. My g-ma never left the house without lippy and I follow suit:). Your Mama sounds like such a love, just like you.
Big kissesallover!

You look divine. Life is so much better when you're dressed for it! That cape is amazing and you rock that veiled hat! One must maintain our standards or the world would be taken over by beige clones in leggings...arghhh!
Spring is nearly there for you and I'm so happy. I'm clinging on to Summer.
Peepers is gorgeous, I like sniffing cat's fur too, Curtise!
Love you! xxxxxxx

Hello blossom! You look properly bloody fab and I'd love to bump in to you during my Aldi shop. I am an advocate of dreaaing up, my mum who is now a pensioner...but don't tell her..never goes out of the house unless she's got her face on, her hair up and her gold on. She won't be seen at the corner shop in a fleece and slippers, no way. I won't be seen in a fleece EVER.
Love the frock, lovethe spring, love Miss P and love you too.

Your kitty is too cute! Everyday i see a girl on the train platform in her lovely 50s outfits, hair done and looking very perfect. and then there's me in my 60s garb. we give each other a little smile and know that we are the most individual on the platform and perhaps the best dressed? I love seeing other people who love to dress up and the fact that they made an effort (50s 60s current whatever) they are appreciated

My name is Tania and I am a fur sniffer. I would be all over Baby Peepers if she was sat like that in front of me.

Now then, what a marvellous story! I would have loved to have witnessed that encounter in the supermarket between you two incredible Mavens of Style. Bet it was joyous to behold.

I love your caped outfit and veiled hat. So stylish, so sophisticated, so unpredictable, so colourful. You are something else. Imagine if I hadn't found you! What a terrible thought. xxxx

GASP!!!!! Your tartan cape is divine!!! And you look amazing in it like a Vivienne Westwood's creature, but far more better!!! The frock you made is very beautiful and I prey everyday Saints Helga & Vix to improve my sewing skills! The second outfit is great too, I love to see you wearing a mini dress and the school uniform jacket, the glasses and the bangs add a naughty vibe that as you know I dig very much thank you!
I love you more than flowers soaked in vodka!!!!

Look at you, all netted and feathered!! Don't you love those moments when you spot another exotic bird the same time they spot you, and a mutual admiration party follows?

I almost didn't recognize you in the last two photos with your glasses on and NO LIPSTICK! Peepers is a sweetie.

How cute is it that you have a cat called "PeePee"! I thought her arse was adorable on the previous post. Hope she never goes missing so you don't have to wander around the neighbourhood yelling "PEEPEE! PEEPEE!"

And you really do have fabularse style! Always a treat to come here and see what's up with today's outfit!

I don't know how our mothers did it. My mother has never been seen without lipstick and I used to do the same until my son started grabbing at my bright red lips. There would be red smudges everywhere within minutes so I gave up... now I'm bland and bare lipped. I need to invent baby proof lipstick.

Hehe, look at little Peeper's legs all stretched out! How cute! I really like your little fringe, very retro/nerd, which I do mean as a compliment! Lovely cape too :)
