Four strings across the bridge, ready to carry me over

Bloody hell, this was almost two weeks ago!
It was Melbourne Cup day, and the powers that be at work decreed it a fancy hat day......fancy hat?!
I can do that!

I know not what this double decker bus is doing here, but on the way to work it seemed sensible to stop and take some pix in the early morning light...

My hat is a favourite 60's one I picked up at a junk shop a couple of years back.
It's suitably mad, and bright, and I feel fabularse when wearing it!
I also picked up that pink turban from a post or two back at the same shop; it was a very good hat day!

I was most disgruntled to lose the best hat competition to what looked like a shower cap.

I spotted these gorgeous swans and their sweet cygnets on the way home, though, which was quite cheering.

Frock-my first Etsy purchase, a few years ago now
Belt and jacket (altered by moi)-from my sistercousinwife
Tights-both retail
Shoes-Trade Me
Necklace-60's, from darling Tamera
Earrings-from gorgeous Leisa!

You look good enough to eat in that first ever etsy dress. De-LIC-ious! I love the silhouette showing your lovely slender waist. If you go to work looking like that, they should double your money because you not only look fabulous, you must make everyone else feel it. LOVE that hat!!! A winner. You woz robbed!

What is that cathedral like structure please? We say some cygnets the other day, pretty big, like beautiful teenagers. xxxxxx

A shower cap? You was robbed. I can't imagine any hat being more spectacular.
Every swoonsome frock needs to be accompanied with a bastard massive double decker bus. A fabulous backdrop for a beautiful wench!
Love you! xxxx

I used to catch that bus from Banstead to Sutton when I was a teenager - how mad is that? I think it was the #166.

Asparagus Pea said...

No - I can se the number in the picture now. 157? Those names are so familiar to me - Belmont, Banstead, Driftbridge Garage. Weird huh?

You LOST the Best Hat competition???? I demand a recount! It simply isn't possible that anyone else's hat (shower cap) was better than that spectacular beauty you're wearing!
The frock is fabularsely gorgeous too, the print, the colours, the pretty pleats... I am dribbling a wee bit. I mean a little bit. Not a bit of wee. Just to clarify...
And double tights action, love it!
Excellent hanging off the back of the double decker, and I am liking the wooden structure (what is it?) and the cygnets. Spring has definitely sprung!
Looooooove yooooou. Xxxxxxx

Never mind matching your tights perfectly to your dresses, now you're getting the local scenery to perfectly match as well. That's some feat!

It's funny how the old Routemasters got shipped all over the world complete with the original signage! I wonder if this was one that Asparagus Pea actually travelled on...? Also, that route now goes near a lovely lavender farm, which you should consider visiting with your purple ensemble from your previous post -- see some pics here, it's really pretty: http://mondoagogo.wordpress.com/tag/mayfield/

As is your hat!

Can't believe that hat did not win best hat competition! It is so fab it almost hurts me. Looking luscious as usually, especially boarding that beautifully coordinated bus. XXX

I am outraged that you didn't win best hat. Is there a complaints division? A protest? A change.org page? Vote for HELGA!

Fancy hat day? That's nearly everyday for you my scrumptious!!!! Then there are the feck-off bow and giant hair flower days! I think the judges must have been wearing their wine goggles and pointed out the wrong winner. xoxoxoxo

You are a blinding star!! I adore the hat,It's stunning and of course, not a shower cap, perfect match for the amazing floral print of your dress! Your photoshoot's set is wonderful, especially the photos near the double deker bus, you seem ready to scream at a Beatles concert (and probabily to break Paul's bass on his head and take his microphone!)!!
Love xxxxxx

Love it! I am so envious of how you put an outfit together so damn perfectly.

The contest was obviously fixed, as I don't believe there could be a hat fancier than that one! I think there should be an international "fancy hat day".

The colour combination here is positively LUSCIOUS!

Love the outfit and photos! I'm a warm color sucker and the stockings are beautiful.

Were the bloody judges blind? It was obvious you should have won. Not only for your fab-u-larse titfer but your citrus shades and red ensemble....I hope you bashed the winner with your handbag a la Dick Emery. Now how did a Surrey bus find it's way to NZ.

Trees said...

How could have you lost? It must have been rigged? Fabulous shades of yellow and orange!
