There's only so much you can miss, before we both collide

Um, yes, here's some more pix from our little road trip.....

After visiting the Squirrels, we headed through Dunedin and up to Moeraki, with the intention of spending the night there....but alas, Moeraki was seething with loads of people, so we went on up to Oamaru instead, and spotted this teensy little shop by the side of the road.....or did we spot this before we came to Moeraki?!
Hmmmm, not so sure now!
Anyways, it was a sweet little shop, and I bought a darling 60's scarf ring there.

We got ourselves a cabin at the campground in Oamaru, nestled against a picturesque little hill and just a 10 minute walk from town, which happens to be through, or along the edge of, their botanical gardens....

O, I dealt with Humpty here, so figured we could give him a wide berth this time....

Quacks!

It was bloody chilly!

We were fascinated with these awesome steam punky sculpture at a car sales yard.

Oamaru's Victorian Precinct is one of  our favourite places to be.

We always have to have a drinkie here, at The Criterion.
Every year they have a week of Victorian Heritage Celebrations, which we've never managed to attend!
One of these days we simply must!

I haven't been to Oamaru for years. It looks lovely. The Criterion is a gorgeous building. I'm sure I've said it before, but that leopard coat is amazing.

If ever there was a cute little shop, that is the one!

What a lovely place and pretty botanical gardens but it looks like a ghost town...not a soul to be seen. The steam punk dog looks ever so slightly menacing with those missiles on his back.

Picturesque places indeed. Looks like Humpty has recovered. Just. I can't get over how green and lush everything looks. XXX

Oh I do indeed remember you flashing poor Humpty, he's never been the same since.
Gorgeous gardens, so so pretty, and then there's you, ultra glamorous and beautiful in leopard print and satsuma tights, teasing me with My Favourite Bag Ever, which by rights should be mine...
Oamaru looks lovely - ducks, gardens, Victorian architecture, steam punky creature, and a grand looking pub, just perfect. And the pic of G against the green doors, looking like he should have been on the cover of Band on the Run, is genius!
Loving you, you brightly-coloured peri-menopausal Goddess! xxxxxxx

Oamaru looks wonderfully grand and supremely quiet. Poor Humpty's still looking a bit flushed from his last encounter.
Looking fabulous in leopard and neon orange, aren't you tempted to tone it down a bit with a pair of beige tights, you perimenopausal floozy?
Love G's lurking stance and the look of the Victorian Wardrobe. That teensy shop is so cute.
Love you! xxxxx

I have always wanted to stay at a cabin. The can be rather pricey in some parts of the States. The botanical garden and town look marvelous.

I think that wee shop is just south of Oamaru - but I've never screeched to a halt in time to check it out. Isn't Oamaru beautiful?

Perdita said...

WOW! It reminds me of a Northern town in the UK - especially the Criterion.

wow! i cant believe how victorian Oamaru looks! Do they use it in films and the like? I'm loving those orange tights of your Helga - perhaps you should paint humpty's legs to match? give him a rainbow makeover!

Every time I see these photos, it makes me want to do a NZ trip. It looks amazing, like an old new country: old because of the wonderful buildings but new because it is not overly built up. Really rather idyllic.
And of course, that little vintage shop is adorable!

I love the photos you and G take of one another. They are just brimming full of fun. Now I've seen the photoshoot with Humpty, I understand the expression on his face!! Got that fabulous coat on again and I'm rather taken with your sensible sandals, they remind me of my Aunty Dolly. xxxxxxxxx

What a lovely place you stayed I love how lush everything is, even the landscape is:). That coat I want to curl up in and any man in a track suit jacket makes my heart flutter a bit, blame it on Ali G, who is hot!

I'm so so jealous of your road trip Helga, It's so looong since I've been on one. Love the pic of you looking gorgeous outside that little shop and how stunning you are in that leopard coat. And I'm very happy you linked to the blog of you and G harassing Humpty, as I hadn't seen it and now I'm sitting with a big smile on my face at the thought of it. xx
