Playing dead and sweet submission, cracks the whip deadpan on cue

We went out for the most marvellous wine sodden dinner at King of Snake with our friends Claire and Mike while they were over from Australia, with their friends Ken and Nicola....
I wisely wore a good eating frock; this 60's number from Retropolitan was both classy and comfortable, not a little unlike myself.

We are blessed to cycle around the Avon River on our way to work each day, and whenever we go into town-or what passes for town in these post earthquake days.
The bird life is wonderful; loads of quacks of various breeds, sometimes swans. At the moment there are masses of Canadian geese about!
Typically, they all scarpered when we were taking pix.
Bastards!

Handbag-60's, opshopped
Shoes-Trade Me (splendidly clumpy!)
Brooch-opshopped
Sunglasses-50's, from my lovely Sue
Headpiece-flash wedding frock lace from Claire, who manages a bridal wear making salon place thingy, that I hot glued a clip onto
Earrings-made by Claire and Mike!

My tattoo is an Alphonse Muscha design, people often think it's a Native American Indian?!

After dinner we popped into Mexicanos, a new bar and restaurant, for a nightcap.
I'm looking distinctly squiffy eyed.
That about sums up the first two weeks of January!
(I had to go to work the next day, dammit, but don't I suit that sombrero?!)

Thank you all for the divoon birthday wishes!
It's been rather splendid!

X

Ooh darling, you are exquisite in that lovely plum ensemble. The frock is gorgeous and you know I am IN LOVE with those shoes. Though, like Sue, I couldn't wear them in a million years, I do love to see you in them. I bloody ADORE ankle straps. The brooch is DARLING. And the sombrero is PERFECTION.

Hope you're having a splendid weekend!

Love you more than crimplene, SS xxxxx

There seems to a bit of a trend forming here ... I love the shoes ... but wouldn't be able to walk in them without breaking an ankle ... and subsequently my neck.
But you look FABULOUS!!

Can you walk on those wedges? They are fab, mind you, but also high, right?
Looks like you had a lovely night out with friends!

Squiffy-eyed, sombrero-behatted, sipping tequila (was it?) - I think that's the quintessential Helga night out pic!
I LOVE the plum beauty, and oh the shoes are indeed divoon but toooo high for me, I'm crap and would totter over after my first G&T! You, however, are a Goddess Who Walks In Wedges. And I adore you! xxxxxx

I like you just that little bit more now for your Alphonse Muscha tattoo! I really must find a much nicer design for my arm tattoo which is a little out of date. I love your outfit too! My favourite rendition of "Radiant Orchid colour of the year" out of all the other efforts. Bloody Pantone, who do they think they are telling us colour of the year? well you miss have just taken that to the next level and then up a bit more! The shoes are to fab!

This is such a different dress shape for you, and you definitely need to wear a mini dress more often! The colour, the jewel embellishments on the collar - it's such a sweet and sassy dress. I would fall over in those shoes, so I applaud your balance and agility. The whole outfit, from funky green sunnies, to your plum wedges, is just THE BEST.

Of course you suit a sombrero - I don't think there is any chapeau that you couldn't rock.

You look a million dollars in that classy but comfortable dress (it's also sexy and beautiful, a bit like you). Oh and those shoes. I dream of being able to wear shoes like that. But no, I'd be like Naomi Campbell in them. A wine soaked dinner sounds lovely and I adore you in that sombrero! So cutely squiffy! I love going to the parks near here and feeding all the ducks, geese and swans. They always make me laugh. Xxxxxx
