She tries not to shatter, kaleidoscope style

It's probably not generally known that I have a keen interest in the arts, and would adore to be a Patroness in the 18th century salon manner......despite having little ability, and claiming no knowledge or understanding, I am very drawn to visual arts, most especially painting, photography and film.
Sonic arts is something I had never considered!
Our gorgeous bobbed haired friend Jo, is, as well as a well respected wine writer, also a DJ and sonic artist, and as part of a local collective, has opened a sonic arts gallery and bar, The Auricle.
Not your everyday gallery, I can assure you, and the first of it's kind in New Zealand!
I am all over being supportive, but comprehend ridiculously little about the subject-luckily, when it comes to a grand opening of the gallery last Thursday night, frocking up and prancing about was just where I could shine and demonstrate my support and encouragement. It takes guts and drive to start a new and unusual venture!
Free wine?!
O, yes, that helps.

Frock-opshopped, and shortened
Capelet-Wasteland, San Francisco; 'twas a wee cropped jacket that was too small, so I transformed it with a pair of scissors and some bravery, as it's pretty damned old and fragile
Bow-from my lucious sistercousinwife Sarah
Earrings-from the sweetest Squirrel (it was Vanessa's birthday yesterday, incidentally!)
Necklace-Wryd, an awesome shop long defunct
Handbag-60's, opshopped
Shoes-thrifted at the Goodwill in Santa Fe 2012

Many of you commented on how very high my heels/wedges were last post-feck yes, they're high!
Luckily I cycle most everywhere, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't survive walking to the corner in those particular shoes!
I adore heels, they make me feel and look tall and powerful and frightfully glamorous, and despite occasional suffering, I'm not giving that up in a hurry!!!

Oh my goodness, I do adore you in purple! I think you might have said in the past you're not so keen on the colour (or have I completely imagined that? It's possible - I make crap up all the time!) but it looks sooooo stunning against your Titian hair. Which looks super-duper bright, have you (I mean G) re-hennaed it? Anyhow, it's gorgeous.
That sparkly capelet is a triumph of reinvention, and woo hoo to the magnificent pins, love!
Sonic art? I don't really know what that is either... I guess it isn't music, or it would be called, you know, MUSIC, right? But like you, I would have enjoyed being there, frocked up with free wine in hand, cheering Jo on. She's an interesting person, I like Jo. And I leeeeerve you! xxxx

Purple and gold are always a gorgeous combination! I also love it on walls in a room.
And high heels are often not to walk in, are they? They are to sit with, stand on and look tall and pretty;-).

Gorgeous as always! I do admire your ability to wear heels. I'm afraid I've had to admit defeat in that arena, but it does help that I'm tall to begin with.

way to go, turning that cropped jacket into a cape. I'm in love with the necklace

Catherine said...

that little jacket is so beautiful! Im so glad you carefully transformed it!

I had a boyfriend once who was a sound-art going type. I didn't have an appreciation for it back then so it was rather tedious for me to go. But now some 6 years later i better understand it. Apparently we went an saw some of the finest sound artists in the world but i have no idea of their names!
